Q & A with Laura Hensh

CORE ADVICE FOR HEALTHY EATING:

The less processed the better. My diet is made up of healthy, natural, whole foods including fresh veg, fruit, nuts, eggs and organic meat and fish. I also try to avoid refined sugar as much as possible- sugar is addictive and will give you a high and then very quickly leave you feeling lethargic and low again.

DAILY HEALTHY HABIT:

I put lemon in my water everyday and ensure I drink at least 2 litres a day. Lemon water is great for digestion and helps balance the body’s pH levels.

YOGA OR PILATES?:

I am a Pilates girl! I absolutely love Reformer Pilates.

UNI LUNCH:

A big salad filled with protein and good fats to help me get through my study and keep my mind focused. I usually combine spinach, tuna, cucumber, capsicum, tomatoes and pumpkin seeds and dress with a apple cider vinegar, water and olive oil.

FAVOURITE CITY VISTED:

Italy is definitely the most beautiful place I have ever been to. Every single city took my breath away and the food… I have no words!

BEST COFFEE IN MELBOURNE:

Hmm that’s a tough one…. I love my coffee! I would have to say Sardi Café in Hawthorn- they also have the BEST breakfast salad I have ever tasted.

YOUR MOTTO:

The harder you work the luckier you get.

FAV MODELLING MEMORY:

Hmm that’s a tough one! It would probably have to be shooting for Bally in Milan. The clothing was incredible.

FOOD STAPLES: Fresh fruit and veg, walnuts, raw cacao, grass fed whey protein, almond milk, organic meat ,fish and my choc protein balls!

WHAT’S ALWAYS IN YOUR FRIDGE:

An abundance of fruit and veg (lots of green,) unsweetened almond milk, coconut water, greek yoghurt and sauerkraut.

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT KITCHEN GADGET:

My Vitamix! I use it at least twice a day.

QUICK BREAKFAST:

My Choc super food Smoothie:

-1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk

-1/2 cup of coconut water

-3/4 cup of blueberries (organic frozen berries are fine)

-1/2 cup of raw spinach

-1 scoop of chocolate protein powder

-1 tsp raw cacao powder

-1 tsp maca powder

-1 tbs chia seeds

-Handful of ice

DINNER ON A BUSY NIGHT:

Grilled veg and grilled fish on the BBQ- so quick and so delicious!

HEALTHY SWEET TREAT:

My choc fudge protein balls are my go to when I feel like something sweet. They always satisfy me as they are full of protein and good fats- no nasties!

FAVOURITE SNACK:

Homemade hummus and veg sticks or fresh fruit.

NAUGHTY INDULGENCE:

I LOVE chocolate! I always have a few squares of Lindt 90% dark choc a few times a week. I never deprive my body- everything is ok in moderation.

STAY HEALTHY WHEN TRAVELLING BY:

Always being prepared. I always pack my own food for the plane to avoid the processed meals they serve. I also look up where the health stores/ big supermarkets are around where I am staying to stock up on healthy food to take with me during the day so I don’t get stuck without wholesome nourishing food.

INGREDIENT THAT MAKES EVERYTHING TASTE BETTER:

Coconut water- it makes almost any smoothie combo bearable!

FAVOURITE SMOOTHIE COMBINATION:

1 cup of frozen blueberries

1/2 cup of Coconut Water (I use Natural Raw C Coconut water)

1/2 cup of Unsweetened Almond Milk

1 scoop of Choc Protein Powder

1 cup of spinach

1 handful of ice

WEIRD FOOD COMBO THAT WORKS:

Vegemite and Avocado! Not sure if I have been living under a rock but I only just discovered this amazing combination and don’t know how I lived without it!

MUST HAVE SUPERFOOD AND HOW YOU USE IT:

Raw Cacao powder- it has so many health benefits and is so versatile. I add it to smoothies, muffins, protein balls and make healthy hot chocolate with it.

ADVICE FOR KEEPING PREPARED AND ORGANISED:

Get a diary and write everything down. Even if you think you will remember it- always write it down!

BEST BARGAIN TIP:
